We've made OA publishing more affordable, by basing our price on actual costs and not a legacy revenue. We know high Article Processing Charges (APCs) mean great work might not make it into the world. We also know that editors and reviewers, and their institutions, who volunteer and build journal brands don’t get the direct recognition they deserve. We want to change that.
With low APCs, a sponsorship fund for authors unable to pay, and enabling editors and reviewers to have a voice in sharing revenue, Collabra: Psychology builds a fair and welcoming ecosystem. Collabra: Psychology is able funnel the value generated by editors and reviewers back into the research community, sharing and spreading benefits.
We believe that when you volunteer your time and expertise as an editor or reviewer, your time should not simply be converted to profits for a publisher, but should also benefit you and your research community.
We enable you to have say in the value that you generate, giving you the option of either paying that value forward to the research community (our waiver fund or your institution’s OA fund) or electing to pay yourself. Whatever your choice, it is your decision, and never ours.
Instead of UC Press retaining all funds generated from the Article Processing Charges which support the journal, our value-sharing and pay-it-forward model allows reviewers and editors to have a say in where the value they add actually goes. Please watch the video below.
